"The West is a mirror in which America sees itself, and each painting is a reflection, an invitation for contemplation. The expansion of the west continues today much as it did more than 100 years ago. Where one industry fades another takes root, with nature narrowly escaping the pressures.

"I paint the American West through a veil of mystery, from the ranches of the high plains to the evergreens along rocky peaks. Everything is connected and everything is temporary, yet the actions of today will be waiting for the next generation.

"The west is at a crossroads, again, perhaps always. With every scene, with every subject, an idea is expressed encouraging contemplation of the changing face of the American West."

Terry Gardner began his career in St. Louis balancing commercial and fine art. Early western films and television deeply influenced his desire to move west. He moved to Colorado early in his career and would eventually leave advertising to pursue painting full time. Gardner credits his growth as an artist, more than college or the commercial art industry, to Quang Ho and Mark Daily. His paintings are expressive and ethereal with color selections intended to encourage dialogue. He currently lives and works in Morrison, Colorado.
