Amy Brakeman Livezey is a Helena, Montana-based mixed media painter whose work is inspired by the history and landscape of the American West. With a particular focus on the historic roles of women, she transforms vintage photographic references into contemporary paintings that blend abstraction with recognizable imagery. Working with acrylic paint, photo transfers, ephemera, and subtractive mark-making, Livezey creates richly layered surfaces that reflect both the passage of time and the enduring relevance of her subjects.
