Carrie Wild’s Rendezvous series stands as one of her most defining bodies of work, translating close observation of herd dynamics into compositions that explore connection, rhythm, and quiet communication. Inspired by the complex relationships within animal groups, the series examines individual presence in dialogue with collective movement — where proximity, hierarchy, and shared awareness shape both the group and the distinct identity of each figure. By reducing her subjects to simplified forms, Wild distills them to their essential character while preserving individuality and emotional presence. Each figure gains meaning through its relationship to those surrounding it, capturing fleeting moments of convergence and separation that echo broader themes of community, coexistence, and belonging. Through restraint and intentional composition, the paintings invite viewers to reflect on how identity is formed both independently and collectively.

Since its inception, the Rendezvous series has evolved through multiple iterations — from vibrant explorations of color to atmospheric nocturnal compositions, as well as expanded subjects including grizzly bears, bucking broncos, and other iconic figures of the American West. Across these variations, Wild continues to investigate light, movement, and emotional resonance, allowing each new body of work to deepen the narrative while remaining grounded in the original concept of relational connection.

Carrie Wild is the owner and namesake of Gallery Wild, located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming — a gallery dedicated to presenting contemporary fine art inspired by wildlife, wild places, and the American West. Founded and operated by the Jackson Hole–based wildlife painter, the gallery’s vision is shaped by countless hours spent in the field observing and studying the natural world. The collection brings together established and emerging artists working across a range of mediums, including oil and acrylic painting, sculpture, handblown glass, mixed media, and photography. Gallery Wild’s mission is to inspire collectors while fostering a deeper appreciation for wildlife and wild landscapes, encouraging the stewardship and preservation of these environments for future generations through the experience and enjoyment of fine art.
