In my mixed media artwork, I delve into the intricate tapestry of the American West, using vintage photographs as a foundation to explore themes of nostalgia, time, and the enduring human spirit. By layering these images between paint, assorted mediums and vintage ephemera, I seek to create a dialogue between the past and the present, inviting viewers to contemplate the enduring power of memory as well as our imagination for an era we may have never experienced.

JC Spock
JC Spock is a Colorado based mixed media artist who specializes in contemporary western art with a nostalgic twist. Her unique process incorporates multiple layers of acrylic paints, inks & washes, pencils, and vintage ephemera (i.e. ledgers, postcards, receipts and ads from the late 1800s/early 1900s) with photography – her own or vintage black and white photos. The layers of ephemera provide historical context to the imagery and her work speaks to a bygone era in a modern way.
The American West, with its vast landscapes, rugged individualism, and rich history has always captivated JC’s imagination. Through her art, JC aims to capture the essence of this region, exploring its iconic symbols, forgotten stories, and enduring allure.
