Michael Ome Untiedt
Born and raised in rural southeastern Colorado, Michael Ome Untiedt maintains a studio in Denver. Through the color, brush strokes, and symbolic subject matter of his paintings, he attempts to examine the human predicament and its connections to the landscape,
“Many of my paintings have the look and feel of the American West………this is the place where I was born and raised. I know the rattle of cottonwoods on a cold fall morning, the hue of dusk’s long light on a buffalo grass prairie; I have drank the cold drip of a blue shale spring. These things have nurtured me from my birth, and coyotes, God’s Dogs, have howled their essence into my soul.”
Michael has participated in numerous shows including The Eiteljorg Museum’s Quest for the West, The Russell Art Show and Sale, Settlers West Miniatures Show and Great American West Show, Western Masters Art Show and Auction, The Buffalo Bill Art Auction, Briscoe Museum Night of the Artists Show, and the Masters in Montana.
He was made an honorary Ranger captain with the Former Texas Ranger Foundation, Fredericksburg, TX for his historical paintings of the the Texas Rangers.In 2005 he received the Tuffy Berg Award at the CM Russell Auction of Original Art. In 2014 he was awarded the Committees Choice Award at the Briscoe Museum Night of the Artists Show and Sale, the Wells Fargo Gold Award at the Buffalo Bill Art Sale and Auction, and People’s Choice Award at the Brinton Museum 6 x 6 Show in Sheridan, WY. He received the People’s Choice award at the 2021 Buffalo Bill Art Auction Quick Draw, and Best of Show at the 2025 Big Horn Rendezvous, Brinton Museum, Big Horn, MT

He received the 2005 Ralph Tuffy Berg Award at the CM Russell Show in Great Falls, MT, and 2014 Art Committee’s Choice Award at the Briscoe Museum in San Antonio, Best of Show at the 2014 Western Masters Art Show and Sale and The Wells Fargo Gold Award at the 2014 Buffalo Bill Art Show and Auction and its 2022 Quick Draw People’s Choice Award. In 2016 he was awarded the North Star Award at the Heart of the West Contemporary Western Art Show in Bozeman, Montana.
