Oberg Coors Bio
Ralph Oberg was raised in Aurora CO from age 4. He has spent his entire life in the Rocky Mountains from NM to Montana, but mostly in Colorado. His love of the high mountain wilderness was set early with weekends at his parents little cabin at 9,500’ west of Denver and did numerous solo and group backpacks in his youth. As a child he drew and studied birds and wild animals and chose early to pursue a career as an artist. His art education was primarily workshops with many of the best known western artists of his generation; mentors who are now friends. He is an Emeritus member of the Plein Air Painters of America. He was a member of the Northwest Rendezvous Group and Society of Animal Artists. His travels on foot or horseback took him to numerous mountain Wildernesses from Arizona to Alaska and the Canadian Rockies. Later travels included the Alps and Himalaya. He has lived near Montrose CO with his artist wife Shirley Novak for the past 28 years and at 75 is still going into the mountains.
