Everywhere I walk the West an abundance of life over all time spreads out before me.Wide ”empty” fields of tall grasses weave into the distance where ancient bison herds in my minds eye exist again vivid before me.Black clouds drifting against golden grasses, wild horses flicking their tails, the smell of water hanging in the sky ready to fall, the bountiful world past and present surrounds me. The glowing past ancestral camp fires of families sleeping beside the warmth of ancient hearths easily witnessed where our camp sits today.Like a stack of antique and new glass photo negatives pressed together to show one image that envelops a thousand years I paint to show the unseen and let it be unveiled again.

Sara comes from the Alpine forests of California ,descended from performers in Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, sharpshooters and legends of the old frontier. Sara’s great, great grandfather Sequah performed with Buffalo Bill Cody for crowds and sold a patented cure-all “Prairie Flower” in blue glass bottles bearing his name. Her ancestry stretches to the eastern woodlands where her grandfathers were the literal inspiration for James Fenimore Cooper's “Last of the Mohicans” tales, the very real exploits of her long hunter family and their fearlessness far beyond what was penned in his books.
Painting daily and often till dawn in her one hundred year old cabin in the woods surrounded by family heirlooms, cabinet cards of ancestors on buffalo robes that sometimes live again in her paintings , a flintlock rifle passed down through a hundred hands, she attests that the characters in her family tree as well as a passion for history as the reason for her subject matter.
Sara has been awarded ‘Best Of Show’ in the Western Gallery annual exhibition and created artwork for a myriad of galleries and collectors from the Smithsonian, to Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. She has created art for a number of well known brands from Gretsch Guitars to Guns N’ Roses and Colter Wall, her work can be found in museums and many noted private collections.
