Shawn Cameron’s Arizona ranching heritage continues into the sixth generation. Both sides of her family drove cattle into Arizona and began ranching in the 1870s—a legacy that continues today. Her subjects are real: their stories are true. Her passion is to share this life she has personally known and loved. She drew and painted from childhood; but the mentoring of friends such as Bill Owen and other noted artists helped her grow professionally. Grateful for the gift God has provided, her goal is to continue improving. Her work has graced the cover of Western Horsemen and other magazines, as well as been part of museum shows such as “Prix de West,” “Night of Artists,” “C.M. Russell Auction,” “Cowgirl Up! Art From the Other Side of the West,” “Coors Western Art Show” and more. Her recognitions and awards include being named a “Master Artist” for Art of the Cowgirl in 2024 and receiving the “Steel Dust Award” in 2022 for Best of Show from the American Quarter Horse Museum’s “America’s Horse in Art” exhibit. The Desert Caballeros and Booth Western Museum both have purchased her art for their permanent collection. Shawn is extremely honored to be the first woman artist invited to exhibit as a guest artist with the Cowboy Artist of America at their 2026 60th Anniversary Show. Her studio is in Pine, AZ, where she lives with her husband, Dean.

Shawn’s artwork is inspired by her family’s 150 years of Arizona cattle ranching that is now in the 6th generation. Her subjects are real and sharing their story is her passion. Familiar with multiple art mediums from childhood, the mentoring of friends such as CAA artist Bill Owen, and other admired professionals, helped her career grow. Her work has been featured in numerous magazines and museum shows including “Prix de West”, the Night of Artists”, the “C.M. Russell Auction”, “Cowgirl Up! Art from the Other Side of the West” and more. Among her honors for a career spanning over 30 years are the “Steel Dust Award” from the American Quarter Horse Museum’s “America’s Horse in Art” and being inducted as an honorary member of the Mountain Oyster Club in Tucson, AZ. Her art has been purchased for the permanent collections of the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Georgia and the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, AZ. She maintains a studio in Pine, AZ where she and her husband live.
