Terry Gardner

Every painting is an emotional investment depicting the intimate corners of the American West. Some are close to home, some are high in the mountains, and all are expressed with a sensibility of the subject. I am most interested in expressing mystery and intrigue, inviting contemplation. Values and colors come from the soul, and throughout the process I balance subjectivity and objectivity, feeling and fact.

Terry Gardner

Terry Gardner was born and raised in St. Louis where he received a Bachelor of Arts from Maryville University. From a young age western television and film deeply influenced Gardner, both in subject and spirit. Early in his career he would balance both commercial art and fine art, eventually choosing to go west. Shortly after moving to Colorado he would study with Mark Daily and Quang Ho, both of whom he credits with much of his growth as an artist.

Having worked in oils from a very young age it remains his medium of choice. From the ranches of the high plains to the evergreens along rocky peaks, Gardner’s compositions are born from his surroundings but evolve in his studio. He has been exhibiting throughout the west for over 25 years. His work hangs in public and private collections throughout the
United States and Europe. He currently lives and works in Morrison, Colorado.
