I have painted this made-up scene a number of times, you might say it is a safe place for my imagination to wander. I was inspired once on a painting trip out in western Wyoming by my good friend and artist Charles Dayton. Both Charles and his family seemed so at peace with their quiet existence and kindness, well doggone it, it made a bring impression on me. So much so that my mind and imagination returns to their country of rolling hills and long light for sanctuary when I need it most. Now I am sure there are many things these people and myself don’t agree on across a vast array of topics, but in the long run this really presents no problems. What we share is respect, concern and kindness towards one another. This is how WE, meaning ALL of us, can make a good land of good people, how we can procur and protect a peaceful valley.
Over one hundred volunteers staff the Coors Art Gallery during the Stock Show and special events such as the Red Carpet Reception. Volunteers come from across the front range, drawn by their love for the art show as well as their dedication to raising funds for the National Western Scholarship Trust, to which the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale is the largest contributor.
