Artists > Tim Cherry > Aspen Under Cover
With “Aspen Undercover” I wanted the overall design to have symmetry within the sculpture. I chose to repeat the circular shapes of the bunnies to represent the aspen leaves above them. The patina on the bunnies has the look of filtered light, as if the leaves of the trees were casting shadows on the hiding bunnies below. The gold leaf and red patina captures the rich autumn colors of my Canadian childhood when the aspen trees turned bright red and gold.
Over one hundred volunteers staff the Coors Art Gallery during the Stock Show and special events such as the Red Carpet Reception. Volunteers come from across the front range, drawn by their love for the art show as well as their dedication to raising funds for the National Western Scholarship Trust, to which the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale is the largest contributor.
