These fine art photographs are part of an ongoing series that began 6+ years ago and aims to educate viewers about the lives of real working cowboys – a reality often overlooked in modern society where we take for granted the food on our tables without considering the people who make it possible. American cowboys aren’t characters in a movie, they are stewards of the land and the livestock, adhering to practices that are both time-tested and sustainable. They represent a bridge between past and present, carrying forward traditions that honor the rugged beauty of the West while adapting to the challenges of a changing world. My goal as a photographer is not just to make beautiful documents of these moments, but to invite viewers to connect with them on a deeper level. I strive to convey the emotional and physical toll of this work, but also its profound rewards: the satisfaction of a job well done, the bond between cowboy and horse, and the deep respect for the land that sustains it all. These are not romanticized images; they are real, unfiltered stories of real people and a culture that continues to endure.
I hope this series encourages viewers to look beyond the myths of the cowboy and see the humanity, dedication, and artistry inherent in their work.
