Exhibition Details for the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale at the National Western Stock Show

The Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale is an annual event and gallery exhibition associated with the National Western Stock Show (non-profit) in Denver, Colorado. Taking place each January, the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale has become one of the finest exhibitions of contemporary Western art in the United States, featuring an eclectic mix of styles and mediums, with established artists to unknown talent.

The Young Guns of the National Western Stock Show is a social group that promotes art, philanthropy, Western culture, and networking for young professionals. With an annual event in December, social events throughout the year, and a strong connection to the West, the Young Guns are proud to represent Colorado's next generation of leaders.

Both the Coors Western Art Exhibit and the Young Guns support the National Western Scholarship Trust, providing 100 scholarships a year to Colorado and Wyoming college students studying agriculture, rural medicine, and veterinary sciences. More information about the trust can be found here: https://nationalwestern.com/educational-support/.

The exhibit is only open during the National Western Stock Show which takes place each January for 16 days. The art gallery is located on the 3rd level of the Expo Hall at the National Western Complex, 4655 Humboldt St., Denver, Colorado. There is no extra fee to get into the art gallery, but there is a grounds admission charge for the Stock Show which is different every day. For ticket prices, go to www.nationalwestern.com

The art gallery is open 9am to 9pm Friday and Saturday, 9am to 8pm Sunday thru Thursday.

Coordinator - Olive Witwer

Olive Witwer recently joined as the Coors Western Art Coordinator at the National Western Stock Show in 2021. Olive has seven years experience in museums, art galleries, and collections management. Her background is in Art History and Anthropolgy as well as museum studies and has spent time in education, visitor engagement, as well as event management. As a native of Colorado, Olive carries a dedication and passion for the art world as well as the cutlure of Denver and strives to highlight the beauty in both in everything she does. Art is a unque expression, and Olive loves to highlight the different emotions and personalities that artwork can express. She looks forward to working with the Coors Western Art Show team and continuing it's traditions.

Olive got her undergraduate degree at CU Boulder and continued on to get her Masters in England. Her love for the mountains couldn't keep her away, and after returning to Denver she's worked at a variety of museums and art galleries where she continued to develop her interest and love of local art and artists.

Volunteer with Coors Western Art

Over one hundred volunteers staff the Coors Art Gallery during the Stock Show and special events such as the Red Carpet Reception. Volunteers come from across the front range, drawn by their love for the art show as well as their dedication to raising funds for the National Western Scholarship Trust, to which the Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale is the largest contributor.

Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help support Coors Western Art; however, the majority of volunteering is done during the National Western Stock Show which runs for sixteen days every January. Volunteers learn about the nationally recognized artists represented in the exhibit, have the opportunity to meet many of them, and interact with the wonderful patrons who visit the Coors Art Gallery during the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo.

We are continuously welcoming new volunteers to the Coors Art Gallery, especially volunteers with art, customer relations, and sales experience, and we are especially looking for those with strong computer skills to operate our point of sale system in the gallery.

You will join the team of almost 1000 volunteers who dedicate themselves to the National Western Stock Show, and you are not limited to working in the art gallery! If you are interested in learning more about the National Western Volunteer program, view the video and get more information HERE.

To sign up, complete and submit the volunteer application found HERE.

We look forward to meeting you!
